The aviation industry stands at the crossroads of innovation and responsibility with its growing market share and potential. Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) has emerged as a revolutionary solution to decarbonise air travel, and its adoption is not just a technological advancement but a moral imperative for achieving net-zero goals. As someone deeply engaged in the bioenergy sector, I have witnessed first hand the transformative potential of biofuels like SAF in reshaping the energy landscape.

The India SAF Alliance is a landmark initiative designed to address critical challenges in scaling SAF production and adoption. It creates a platform where technology, policy, and industry converge to realise the potential of SAF.

The initiative represents a significant step in India's efforts to reduce aviation emissions, with ambitious targets of a 1% SAF blend by 2027, 2% by 2028, and 5% by 2030. By leveraging its agricultural strengths, technological expertise, and policy momentum, India has the potential to become a global hub for SAF production and innovation. The initiatives outlined within this document are commitments to redefining aviation’s relationship with sustainability.
